Pleased to announce that the mens group has relaunched.
We enjoyed an inaugural fun and friendly evening of indoor bowls at West Bradford Village Hall in March 2025. While the standard of play may not have been the highest, the spirit of the evening more than made up for it!
Wednesday 21st May - 7.00pm - West Bradford Village Hall - Bowling
Another successful evening attended by 10 willing participants.
There was be a small charge of £6 to help cover costs.
This includes a tea or coffee
Monday 23rd June - 7.30pm - Chatburn Village Hall - Speaker
Guest speaker, Mr. Peter Del Strother, who gave us a talk on the ‘History of Clitheroe’.
Very interesting insight into the local history, particularly the cemement process.
Donations on the night went to Prostate Cancer UK in support of their excellent work.
Monday 8th September - 7:30pm - Chatburn Village Hall. Alice Nutter, one of the infamous (allegedly) Pendle Witches. The presentation will be given by local historian Brian Jeffery. As with previous events this is open to everyone with a suggested donation of £5 which again will be going to Prostate Cancer UK.
We enjoyed an interesting presentation and learned how Brian researched the subject. The evidence presented would seem to indicate that Alice was hard done too. It was more likely that she didn't speak at her trial due to her age (72) and that she was suffering from dementure.
I hope we are more enlightened in this modern era or are we?
