Christ Church - EcoChurch

We are participating in the Eco Church programme; this means we have made a commitment to improve the environmental sustainability of the church and its grounds. We are actively trying to integrate environmental themes into our worship whilst also highlighting issues to our younger congregation through Messy Church and Sunday Club.

We have created a subcommittee of like-minded people who can help us reach our goal of achieving accreditation through the Rocha UK project.

The main criteria for us to get onto a Silver Award would be improvements in the following areas:

The Church building:

At Christ Church we need to show our commitment to focus on energy saving measures, waste management strategies and the use of sustainable materials.

The Church Grounds:

We would be looking into creating a haven for wildlife, we already have several bird boxes and would like to make a bee friendly habitat to support the local ecosystem that we have.

Recycling:

Christ Church is already a collection point for various recycling items, whether it be books, glasses or used medication foil and this is something we want to improve and promote.

Community Engagement:

There will be a push to engage the local community regarding environmental awareness and promote participation in environmental initiatives.

To help us achieve our goal of receiving a higher accreditation we are looking for people to join the Christ Church Eco Group.
